London

Thursday
Our trip to London started on Thursday after class. We went back to make sure we had everything and left for the bus to take us to Cork for the airport. The bus ride was fun, we talked about how we were excited and then relaxed for the rest of the time we were on. Getting to the airport, we were very, very early, which is better than being late, but we sat at a little cafe outside of the check-in and hung out and talked for the hour that we needed to wait. Going through the rest of the airport was insanely easy, I think we went through it in maybe ten minutes. So we sat at another cafe to wait for the gate to open and then got to get on the plane by the tarmac!! Which I've never done before, and I felt like a celebrity. Although the flight made me think that I was going to die because of the turbulence, I was bouncing, and the whole plane was shaking, and I got so motion sick it was crazy. Kinda fun now that I look back, but jeez. The rest of the trip was travel to the Airbnb, which was a blur because I was so tired. We got there, and there was no WiFi, so that night was interesting, but we all got settled in, got Wingstop, and passed the heck out.
Friday
We started out the day going to Buckingham Palace to watch the changing of the guards, which was really cool even though I had to squeeze through people to see maybe a tip of one of their fuzzy hats, but that was okay I still enjoyed the time. The music was really cool, too, and they had gorgeous horses that some of the police were riding. After that, we went to a small cafe for breakfast, and I got a very good almond croissant because they are my favorite. After that we went and walked around London for a while, we saw so much, and it's become a new favorite city of mine. The architecture was amazing and gothic, which is also a favorite, and I was amazed seeing all of the detail up close. We walked around most of the day and took the tube, too, which was also fun, and ended up going back to the Airbnb so I could get a meeting done for my internship. It went late, so while I was in that, everyone else decided where we would go for dinner, which ended up being an ice cream place that I'm pretty sure was close to heaven. I got an amazing cookie dough with vanilla ice cream on top, and it was warm and gooey, I wish I could pick up the place and put it in Erie for when we get home.
Saturday
Today was museum day!! We got to the British Museum at 11:30 for our time slot but didn't end up getting into the actual building until 12 something. This one was absolutely giant. We were so overwhelmed, and it took us about two hours to get through the whole thing. But it was really cool seeing everything from different cultures and religions, and I got a book that I'm very excited to read. We went to the art museum next, but before we went in, Lexi read Into the Twilight by Yeats in the square outside of the gallery, and we were very excited for her and I guess that's what I can relate back to the class for this post! The art museum was so pretty, the architecture and the art on the walls was so impressive I could've spent hours in there sitting. We ended up only staying for an hour so we could get some food for lunch and head to our next stop. We walked around again for a while and decided that we'd go to Taco Bell for dinner, which I've never had I was a little too nervous to try, so I settled to get another thing of cookie dough when we went to Creams again that night. We ended up going at around 10pm since we were trying to pull an all-nighter since Sunday started out beyond early...that didn't happen we all slept when we got back.
Sunday
We started at 3am...woo. I was so exhausted, but we had to run around to catch all of the trains to get to the airport. it ended up working out, and we only got lost once. I got a little nervous when we got to the actual airport because I thought that security was going to take a while, but we ended up zipping right through it and walked through what seemed like an endless duty-free zone in the airport. We got to a Burger King to sit for another hour before the flight, which got us to about 7am, and then by 7:30, we walked over to the gate and immediately started boarding, which was great cause we took off early. Which meant that we could get our bus time scheduled earlier and get back to Dungarvan at around noon. I passed the hell out when I got back after taking a much-needed shower after traveling so much and unpacking, and then I crashed for another three hours.
