Muckross House and Waterfall

Today, I had a couple of things on the roster. A lot of it was on a bus, which was not great for my motion sickness, but it ended up being okay. Early in the morning, before we got to the waterfall and the estate, I had to register for classes, and I got most of the ones that I wanted, which was great. Then, after a little while, we ended up getting to the waterfall, and it was gorgeous, the surrounding area was so green it was crazy to me I had never seen anything like it in the States. Getting up to the waterfall, it was much bigger than I thought it was going to be, and there was a little platform where you could get cute pictures. Some people went up the stairs, which was, I think, an hour-long hike, whereas the part we were on was only a five to ten-minute hike back to the bus, and it was very enjoyable. The poem I thought of for this trip was the one that Margaret read, In Gallarus Oratory by Seamus Heaney, it made me excited to visit the oratory and it was nice to hear the poem with the scenery around her. Another five-ish minutes away was the Muckross House estate, the Victorian-style architecture is my favorite, as I've mentioned before. This tour started in the courtyard, and we walked into the stables to begin, it was self-guided for the most part, but it was a pretty large house compared to Kylemore Abbey, which had like three rooms.

The whole thing was really gorgeous, though, and the grounds around the estate were so pretty. The gardens had so many flowers, and Grace F. and I climbed a giant tree and I almost died getting down it but it was still really fun to do. We walked the grounds a little more and went through the gift shop, I got some fudge, which was not as great as I had hoped, but it was still good. Then I got some very good mashed potatoes and a cute little muffin that I absolutely devoured before having to go back on the bus and leave.
